The City Council of Hanceville voted to disband its police force and then rebuild it after its chief and four officers were indicted on multiple charges.

An Alabama city is moving to replace and rebuild its entire police department after a grand jury found a “rampant culture of corruption” on the small police force.

The Hanceville City Council on Monday voted unanimously to rebuild the city’s beleaguered police department and hire a new chief in the wake of indictments handed down against the top cop and four officers.

The Hanceville City Council heard from citizens for more than three hours Thursday night over the fate of the city police department.
