The lawsuit says Chauvin pressed his knee into the woman’s back while she lay handcuffed, four months before Floyd’s death.

Minneapolis will pay $600,000 to settle a lawsuit from Patty Day, who accused former Officer Derek Chauvin of using excessive force during her arrest in January 2020. This brings the city's total payments for Chauvin-related misconduct cases to over $36 million.

Chauvin then assumed his signature pose, pressing his knee into the subdued and handcuffed Patty’s back — just as he would later do to snuff the life out of George Floyd,” the lawsuit reads.
