The first major winter weather event of the year is expected to bring snow and ice back to the Portland, Vancouver area by Thursday afternoon.

Additional snow and ice accumulations are likely Friday in the Portland/Vancouver area with up to 3 inches of snow possible in some locations. The National Weather Service expects freezing rain to mostly stay in the southern Willamette Valley and snow to fall in areas north of Salem.
