The wreckage of a plane matching the description of one that went missing Thursday afternoon was found on sea ice in Alaska on Friday, the U.S. Coast Guard said. None of the nine passengers or the pilot flying the single-engine turboprop plane.

Debris matching the missing Bering Air plane with 10 onboard was found in Alaska. The Coast Guard says three bodies were found amid the wreckage, and believe the remaining 7 bodies are believed to be inside the aircraft but are currently inaccessible.

The privately operated plane, with nine passengers and one pilot on board, was reported overdue Thursday on a flight from Unalakleet to Nome, Alaska state police said.
