Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy reached a deal to buy 1,500 beagles from Ridglan Farms, the site of recent protests and police response.

Wisconsin cops were forced to use rubber bullets and teargas to fend off a horde of 1,000 animal rights activists who stormed a local beagle research facility to try to free the dogs, authorities said.

Six animal-welfare campaigners have been cleared of causing a public nuisance over protests they staged at the Grand National. Nine activists climbed perimeter fences at Aintree in 2023 and went onto the track to demonstrate against the staging of the race.
