Visitors to the prison here had mixed reactions Monday to President Donald Trump’s expressed desire to once again house hardened criminals in the notorious former federal prison. Some of the tourists were willing to entertain the notion while others found it impractical at best and ridiculous at worst.

At the beloved attraction in San Francisco Bay, visitors could scarcely believe President Trump had suggested turning Alcatraz back into a penitentiary.

Alcatraz Island is most famous for its 29-year operation as a prison. Now it's a popular tourist spot that Trump wants to turn back into a prison.
