CHENNAI: Apple’s contract manufacturer for iPhone production, Hon Hai Precision Industry Company—better known as Foxconn—announced earlier this week that it is moving forward with a $1.5 billion display module plant in India.

Despite potential tariffs, Apple is increasing its iPhone production in India due to significantly lower labor costs compared to the U.S. Even with a 25% import duty, Indian assembly remains far more economical.
