Two separate lawsuits have been filed over the deadly Legionnaires' disease outbreak in Harlem. Both lawsuits claim construction companies failed to protect workers from unsafe conditions that led to the spread of the disease.

A fifth person has died as a result of the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in Harlem, which has sickened more than 100, health officials said.

Dozens of people sickened in Central Harlem Legionnaires’ outbreak are planning lawsuits. A handful of law firms have been retained to represent some of the people who became ill or died in the worst cluster since 2015.
