The planned Disney theme park will be located on the Yas Island entertainment district in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Walt Disney Co. announced plans on May 7 to create a new theme park in the United Arab Emirates. When built, the park will be Disney’s seventh worldwide and the first–ever in the Middle East.

Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro told USA TODAY the new theme park will be “like no other park that we've built before.”

Could a Disney vacation in Abu Dhabi be a bargain compared with the American equivalent? Travelers may think of the Middle Eastern destination as a place of unbridled luxury, replete with Michelin-starred restaurants and hotels whose rates can run as high as $1 million per week.
