Derek Carr surprised New Orleans Saints fans when announcing his retirement this past weekend, leaving the team with three inexperienced quarterbacks battling to win the starting job

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Saints won't have to pay Carr's $30 million guaranteed salary for the upcoming season and the club won't seek reimbursement for his $10 million roster and signing bonus that was paid in March.

During the 2016 season, Carr was one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL, throwing for 3,937 yards with 28 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Raiders made the postseason two times while Carr was the starting quarterback, but they failed to win a game in the playoffs.
