Three Republican-led states are deploying National Guard members to Washington to help the Trump administration’s takeover of the city’s police department.

Troops from the South Carolina National Guard will be arriving at the nation’s capital within the next 24 hours.

Today, a group of South Carolina Army National Guard soldiers left for the nation’s capital. Approximately 70 soldiers of around 200 ordered by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster were deployed from the National Guard Armory in Union to support a federal security mission in Washington D.

The moves come as federal agents and National Guard troops have begun to appear across the heavily Democratic city after President Trump's executive order earlier this week.
