After missing out on the postseason for five straight years the Arizona Diamondbacks surprisingly won the National League pennant in 2023. Unfortunately Arizona followed that magical season up by missing the playoffs altogether in 2024.

In the eighth inning of the Diamondbacks' 8-7 win over the Giants, Lovullo got fired up over an obstruction call against former top prospect Jordan Lawlar that put the tying run on second with two outs. First-base umpire Mark Ripperger ejected Lovullo after he argued Lawlar didn't obstruct Giants infielder Christian Koss as he tagged him out.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo attempted to play an Uno reverse card on the umps on Wednesday in his team’s 8-7 win over the Giants. Lovullo was irate in the eighth inning when the umpires awarded a Giants runner with second base because of interference, and was not having the umps’ explanation of the decision at Oracle Park.
