Catholics across Connecticut expressed joy, pride, and surprise following the historic election of American-born Cardinal Robert Prevost as the new pope.

She noted the significance of the new pope’s chosen name. “Leo XIII was the father of Catholic Social Teaching – reminding us of the importance of affirming the rights and dignity of workers. I am hopeful Leo XIV will follow in his tradition,” she said.
