Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz has approved Operation Gideon’s Chariots II, a major IDF plan to capture Gaza City. Backed by Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, the operation will call up 60,000 reservists to reinforce troops already deployed.

The military says troops are already operating in some areas ahead of the planned operation to occupy all of the city.

Troops have reached the city’s outskirts, an Israeli official said, adding that more reservists are being asked to report for duty to cover for other soldiers who will be involved in going into Gaza City.
