Tremonton residents are reacting to the tragic shooting that left two officers dead and another, along with his K-9, injured Sunday night.

Officials say more lives would have been lost in the Tremonton shooting if not for the actions two city police officers who were killed and a sheriff’s deputy who was wounded.

Funeral arrangements have been confirmed for the fallen officers involved in the shooting in Box Elder County Thursday evening.

Simms explained, "If you kill a law enforcement officer, a police officer, you can face the death penalty in Utah. If it's a death when you're trying to escape custody, if it's particularly cruel, then you can face the death penalty in Utah.
