Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. plan to resume sales of some AI chips in China after securing Washington’s assurances that such shipments would get approved, a dramatic reversal from the Trump administration’s earlier stance on measures designed to limit Beijing’s AI ambitions.

(Reuters) -Nvidia said on Monday that it will resume sales of its H20 graphics processing unit (GPU) chips to China and has introduced a new model tailored to meet regulatory requirements in the Chinese market.

Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang says the technology giant has won approval from the Trump administration to sell its advanced H20 computer chips used for artificial intelligence to China.

Official figures showed modest growth in the second quarter as exports shifted to other countries and Beijing invested in manufacturing and infrastructure.

A surge of exports from Chinese manufacturers supported the growth, as customers and producers alike took advantage of the U.S.-China trade war ceasefire.

The Chinese economy cooled in the second quarter, but growth was in line with expectations despite pressure from U.S. tariffs.
