According to Earthquakes Canada, the earthquake struck at a magnitude of 5.1 and a depth of one kilometre on B.C.'s Sunshine Coast on Friday afternoon.

An 4.8 magnitude earthquake has hit British Columbia on Friday afternoon, state officials say some residents in northwestern Washington could have felt the rumbling as well.

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook near Squamish, British Columbia on Friday afternoon. The earthquake was reported at 1:26 p.m. at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the U.S. Geological Society (USGS).
