For nearly twenty years, most air travelers in the U.S. have been required to remove their shoes when going through security. That requirement has ended.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security says U.S. travelers no longer have to take their shoes off while going through airport security. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says this change has been in the works since the Biden administration was in office.
