Padres center fielder Ramon Laureano struck Roupp directly in the knee with a line drive Wednesday night, sending the San Francisco hurler to the ground clutching his left knee. After some anxious time spent on the Petco Park grass, Roupp was removed from the premises on a cart.

San Francisco Giants right-hander Landen Roupp was carted off the field after he was hit by a line drive by Ramón Laureano of the San Diego Padres in the third inning Wednesday night.

Giants place Landen Roupp on the IL with knee inflammation, with Bob Melvin confirming it’s a bone bruise and no surgery is needed.
