Circa 1966 Jane Fonda and Robert Redford filmed Barefoot in the Park amid the chilly streets of Manhattan. Directed by Gene Saks, adapted from Neil Simon’s Broadway hit, the shoot took place near Washington Square and Central Park. Paramount Pictures captured New York’s charm in Technicolor. Fonda, already acclaimed for Cat Ballou (1965), matched Redford’s quiet charisma after his success in Inside Daisy Clover (1965). Their on-screen chemistry became a 1960s romantic ideal. Released in May 1967
