I love anywhere that shows off some North Carolina history! So I knew I had to make a stop here when I was near Boone! 🗝 The original Mast General Store was built in 1883 as a general store & it hasn't changed much since then! 🏚 Fun fact: If you go 2/10 of a mile down the road, you'll find a 2nd Mast General Store that was originally built in 1909 as a competing general store. The cornerstone for St. Bartholomew's Church in Pittsboro, NC was set in 1832, but the inscribed gravestones in the cemetery date back to the 1820s. With many unique and historic markers throughout the churchyard, there are also many ancient boxwoods, azaleas, and holly which were planted by Henry Adolphus London (1808-1882), who is buried here. | The Forgotten South
