While there’s no doubting the aesthetic visual appeal of perfectly arranged gear with nary a patch cable or wire out of place, I generally prefer to mess around (literally) and move quickly to find a sound. I could spend 20 minutes carefully unplugging everything and rearranging it neatly, replacing the uglier cables/gear with something more photogenic and reshooting it, but instead here’s the real mess as it happened.
