Bucking is one of the most misunderstood horse behaviors. Many see it as "bad," but it’s neither good nor bad—it just is. Horses evolved to buck as a survival instinct to shake off predators clinging to their backs. A saddle and girth can easily trigger this reflex because they mimic a predator latching on and squeezing to hold on. When I see a horse bucking with a saddle for the first time, I’m actually glad.
